City Harvest regards what they did as “common” practice for churches

The defence for the six City Harvest Church leaders — Chew Eng Han, Kong Hee, Lam Leng Hung, Serina Wee Gek Yin, Tan Shao Yuen Sharon and Tan Ye Peng — said in court today that they found nothing wrong in being discreet about funding the singing career of Ho Yeow Sun, or Sun Ho.

Ho, Kong Hee’s wife, was playing the face of City Harvest’s evangelism project, a practice they claimed is common among churches located in countries that disallow open preaching.

The defence also stated that City Harvest’s financial transactions had been studied by accounting firm Baker Tilly TFW in 2007 and 2008, during which no issues were raised.
