City Harvest Church disappointed by outcome of case, finds nothing wrong with the accused

As expected, City Harvest Church spin doctors were able to find silver linings in this morning’s verdict on the whole controversial saga.

After three years of court trials and are-they-aren’t-they tension, the six megachurch leaders accused were found guilty of all charges involving a conspiracy to commit criminal breach of trust. They were guilty of misappropriating over $50 million in church funds, as well as falsifying accounts, and will receive sentencing on Nov 20.

City News — the ‘news’ site dedicated to reporting City Harvest Church ongoings — noted that hey, actually no harm was done, hehe. Or something along those lines.

Sun Ho, the wife of convicted church founder Kong Hee (whose music career benefited from the misappropriation of funds) wrote a Facebook post expressing her disappointment with the verdict.

“The judge has rendered his decision and, naturally, we are disappointed by the outcome. Nonetheless, I know that Pastor Kong and the rest are studying the judgment intently and will take legal advice from their respective lawyers in the days to come.”

Regardless, the City Harvest Church Executive Director encouraged her congregation to move past the challenges and reminded that the church is now operating under new management and a new Church Board — so it’s all good.

“Pastor Kong and I are humbled by the tremendous outpouring of love and support shown to us during this time,” she wrote, quoting from the Book of Job that they’ll come forth as gold.
