Circles.Life was behind the 3dollarballer stunt to promote its new unlimited mobile data plan

In an increasingly saturated market that involves telcos offering unlimited (or just really massive) mobile data plans, how does one try to stand out from the competition?

How about a guerrilla marketing stunt that straight up gives out cash to people? Sure, why not, the marketing team of Circles.Life presumably thought — and what pandemonium the little stunt caused in town over the last couple of days.

Turns out, those #3dollarballer “vending machines” that gave out $50 to anyone who inserted $3 into the boxes were part of Circles.Life’s new on-demand feature that gives customers unlimited mobile data for a day at just $3. Which ain’t too bad, especially since folks won’t need that much mobile data every single day. Not to mention the fact that competitors have started jumping on the unlimited data bandwagon at higher price points.

Clever (and outrageous) the little stunt may be, but it sure caused quite a bit of disorder yesterday afternoon when the “vending machine” popped up at Raffles Place Green. The mob of people wanting to score themselves $47 proved to be chaotic to the point that the cops had to shut the whole thing down.
