Looks like young smokers won’t be able to get their nicotine fix anymore when they’re hanging out at Cineleisure — the 7-Eleven outlet there just got their licence to sell tobacco permanently revoked after they were caught again for selling cigarettes to minors.
Undercover ground surveillance conducted by the Health Sciences Authority(HSA) found that the 24/7 retail store had failed to check the age of under-18 minors before selling cigarettes to them.
As this was the second time they were found to have sold the products to minors (the first one was in 2011), the store will no longer be allowed to sell tobacco products. The young ‘uns who’ve been hanging out at *Scape, the skatepark and other youthful stomping grounds nearby will just have to find other errant retailers.
The HSA has also suspended similar licences of four other tobacco retailers for selling them to minors as well. They won’t be able to sell tobacco products for a period of six months as part of their penalty.
