A perpetual molester got himself thrown behind bars once again after his latest bout of perverse deeds — outraging the modesty of a fellow Batam ferry passenger.
53-year-old Tan Yew Song has since been sentenced to eight months in jail for touching the buttocks of his female victim three times throughout the journey. TODAY reports that he served multiple jail sentences in the past for molest, dating back to 1983.
His transgressions took place on Jan 3, on a ferry bound for Singapore from the Batam Centre Ferry Terminal. The victim’s back was facing the aisle, passing food to her children. Tan had been walking along an aisle between the seats, and touched her buttock once. The victim thought it was an accident and returned to her seat.
Minutes later, the victim stood up to take some water for her children — but Tan struck again by touching her buttock for the second time. The woman realised that it was no accident, but didn’t want to pursue the matter.
Tan touched her buttocks again as the victim and her family members got ready to disembark. This time, the victim told her husband about it, and he confronted Tan. As soon as the ferry docked, the husband sought help from immigration officers to detain the molester.
The latest of Tan’s brush with the law comes even after serving a three-month jail sentence last year. Prior to that, he had served a seven-year stint in preventive detention in 2001, that came along with seven strokes of the cane. And prior to that, he served some more time in prison.
