On Tuesday night (May 9), Chinatown Complex saw a fight break out between a group of about 10 men and women against three other people. According to Lianhe Wanbao, those involved in the brawl on the second storey food centre hurled beer bottles, bowls, plates and chairs at one another, leaving the place really messed up with glass shards and smashed dishes everywhere.
The hawkers reportedly revealed that these people were regulars at the food centre, and they had already consumed a few drinks before the skirmish occurred. Two men, aged 20 and 42, ended up injured in the midst of the altercation, and both were conveyed to the Singapore General Hospital.
The police confirmed they were alerted to a case of rioting at 335 Smith Street (the address of Chinatown Complex) on Tuesday at 10.40pm. Investigations are underway.
