Thanks to the quick-thinking actions of two SMRT staff and a Certis Cisco security officer, a young boy’s life was saved on Tuesday (Mar 14) night. According to SMRT, Certis Cisco security officer Punitha noticed a crying mother and her child at Somerset station, and went to alert station manager William and assistant station manager Kuldip.
They realized that the baby’s lips were bluish and his eyes had stopped moving, so William carried the child and attempted to open his mouth to make sure his airway wasn’t blocked, then he gently patted the baby on his back. Meanwhile, Kuldip requested via a public service announcement for medical professionals in the vicinity to come forward and help.
Thankfully, a kind SAF medic volunteered to assist William and calm the mother down, and a nurse helped ensure the baby’s airway was fully cleared. As the child began to respond to their efforts, the team told the mother to seek medical attention at the nearest hospital.
The father of the child expressed his gratitude for all the help his wife received, saying, ‘We really want to thank everyone who came forward to help. At that point in time, my wife did not know who to approach but these people came forward to help. They were very professional and we really appreciate it.’
