Give credit where credit is due — and stop being cynical, y’all.
That’s what Goh Meng Seng, People’s Party Power secretary-general, said about some netizens’ reactions to yesterday morning’s attempt by PAP candidate Koh Poh Koon to save a man in his 70s at Ang Mo Kio Central Market & Food Centre.
The elderly man fell to the ground and is thought to have suffered a heart attack. Koh, a colorectal surgeon who by coincidence was in the area, performed CPR on the man and stayed until the paramedics arrived.
The man eventually died at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, and netizens have been wondering out loud if the incident was, in fact, staged by PAP to earn brownie points from voters.
“People should appreciate what Dr Koh has done instead of politicising the event,” warned Goh in The New Paper.
“I don’t think he was thinking about votes or what people would say,” adds Singapore Democratic Alliance chief Desmond Lim.
And to those jaded netizens, we ask, who in his right mind would orchestrate someone’s death in order to win votes? Think about that.
