Changi Airport’s Terminal 5 will have capacity of Terminals 1, 2 and 3 combined

Changi Airport may have won the World’s Best Airport for the third time running this morning, but the Ministry of Transport has even bigger plans in place for the world-class facility.

According to Minister for Transport Lui Tuck Yew in Parliament yesterday, the airport’s new passenger terminal, Terminal 5 will eventually be capable of holding as many passengers as the capacity of Terminals 1, 2 and 3 combined.

The new terminal will be connected to Terminals 1 to 3 to allow the expanded Changi Airport to operated as a single, integrated airport for the easy transfer and convenience for passengers and airfield operational efficiency. The MRT network will also be connected to the terminal.

The revised concept plan presents additional advantages including having the shortest walking distances for passengers and connection times for transfer passengers as well as easier way-finding.

Terminal 5 will be built in two phases, while the pace of construction will be determined on air traffic growth.
