Okay, now we’re just rubbing it in the faces of other countries. Changi Airport has, yet again, scored the title of World’s Best Airport by air transport industry consultancy Skytrax. Just in time for the opening of the Jewel Changi Airport on Apr 17!
This would be the seventh time in a row that Changi Airport is crowned the world’s best aviation hub in the World Airport Awards — a verdict based on 13.5 million airport survey questionnaires across over 100 nationalities of air travelers. This would also mean that Changi Airport has nabbed the title for about half the time since the World Airport Awards started, as the Singapore’s crown jewel has already picked up the international accolade for 10 times throughout the 20-year history of the awards.
“To be voted the World’s Best Airport for the seventh consecutive year is a truly fabulous achievement for Changi Airport, and this award continues to underline the airport’s popularity with international air travelers,” said Skytrax CEO Edward Plaisted.
“Changi Airport is very focused on continually improving the customer’s airport experience and innovating with new product and service features,” he highlighted, adding that the opening of Jewel Changi Airport looks set to further enhance the experience of visitors.
As if the top title wasn’t enough, Changi Airport also scored the awards for Best Airport in Asia and World’s Best Airport Leisure Amenities. Deservedly so, considering the airport is a tourist attraction of its own with a rooftop swimming pool, various gardens, shopping spots, 24-hour movie theatres, and dozens of Instagram-worthy art installations. And we ain’t even counting the upcoming attractions at Jewel Changi Airport, which will house the world’s tallest indoor waterfall.
“At Changi, we are fortunate to have a large community of immensely dedicated and passionate airport workers who strive to deliver the best experiences to our passengers every single day,” enthused Changi Airport Group CEO Lee Seow Hiang.
Anyway, the runner-ups. Tokyo International Airport (Haneda) made it to the second spot, as well as scoring the title for World’s Cleanest Airport. South Korea’s Incheon International Airport is number three, and also nabbed the award for World’s Best Transit Airport.
