Oh, the things people do for free stuff. One man in the United States recently went all out to get a free Razer Phone, and he did it in a typically millennial way — by leaving a comment on Razer CEO Tan Min-Liang’s Facebook page, asking whether he could get the new gadget in exchange for tattooing Tan’s face on himself.

The Singaporean entrepreneur, who probably figured the dude did it in jest, replied “Lol sure — permanent tattoo and I’ll be sure to sign the box when I send it out!”

Little did Tan realize that 28-year-old Matt Connelly was absolutely serious about the trade. The Ohio resident (and hardcore Razer fan) told Channel NewsAsia today that he had actually inked his right leg and was currently in touch with a Razer employee, awaiting the phone — which launched in November — to be shipped out.

The tattoo, which took more than three-and-a-half hours to complete, only hurt “in certain areas”, Connelly added. “I always enjoy having a story behind a piece of art.”

A Razer spokesperson confirmed that the company would be delivering a phone to Connelly.

“Our fans show their support for us in the most incredible ways,” the spokesperson said. “It drives us to create phenomenal products to earn that kind of loyalty.”

As for Tan’s response, he good-naturedly gave Connelly a pat on the back, saying “congrats Matt — well played” in a Facebook post today.
