A bunch of stuff happened over the F1 weekend — including gigs by One Republic, Ariana Grande and The Chainsmokers — which culminated in Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton winning the 2017 Singapore Grand Prix. Also in town were Red Bull drivers Daniel Ricciardo and Max Verstappen, who were offered a chance to try XXO D24 durians for the first time ever. But first, the guys had to crack open the stinky fruit — which they gamely attempted to do, to hilarious effect.
With a table set up at Monti at 1-Pavilion, the F1 drivers began attacking the durians. Unconventional tools they used included a hammer, a hacksaw, and even a chair. They also tried to throw the King of Fruits in the air, in the hopes that it would split open upon landing, but alas, the durian was too tough for that.

Unfortunately, the “mistreatment” of the sacred fruit was deemed disrespectful by some netizens, who were seriously triggered by the men’s actions.
As for what other celebs were up to in between the F1 festivities, Ariana Grande was spotted chilling out with a couple of buddies at Gardens by the Bay, while Ryan Tedder of One Republic hung out with F1 driver Lewis Hamilton and local singer JJ Lin after he hunted down Hong Kong Soya Sauce Chicken Rice & Noodle for a plate of the cheapest Michelin-starred meal in the world.
Duran Duran also hit up Chinatown for a nighttime stroll amongst the lanterns.
And Swedish F1 driver Marcus Ericsson took a break from the Singapore heat by diving into an ice bath after “an intense and hot running session”.
How does @Ericsson_Marcus cool down after an intense and hot running session? Why, an ice bath of course! 😂❄#F1 #SingaporeGP #ME9 pic.twitter.com/GebpJOkIcy
