CDL Hospitality Trusts buys Cambridge City Hotel in the UK

It’s nice to know we have a place to call home if we ever find ourselves in Cambridge.

CDL Hospitality Trusts — owner of Orchard Hotel, Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel, M Hotel, Copthorne King’s Hotel, Novotel Singapore Clarke Quay and Studio M Hotel in Singapore — has sunk in $135.3 million to purchase the 198-room Cambridge City Hotel in the UK.

The hotel opened in 1991 and was refurbished in April. CDL believes there is a growth in the market for Chinese tourists, now that UK visa application for China passport holders has been streamlined, according to Channel NewsAsia.

Last month, Millennium and Copthorne Hotels, a subsidiary of City Developments Limited, said it was purchasing Hard Days Night, a Beatles-themed hotel in Liverpool for $30.1 million in cash.
