Cap That: Singapore Customs send over 77,850 fake vodka bottles to be destroyed

Over 77,850 empty bottles bearing the name of a vodka brand have been handed over to the brand owner to be destroyed.

The bottles, seized in June last year along with 18 boxes of bottle caps and 10 boxes of labels all infringing the brand’s trademark, had been shipped to Singapore from a neighbouring container in 11 20-foot containers.

The discovery in Keppel Distripark is believed to have been intended for transfer to another country for illegal bottling activities and sale.

Said Mr. Tok Choon Min, acting head of operations management branch at the Singapore Customs, “We will work closely with brand owners to take appropriate action against offenders in accordance with the Trade Marks Act”.
