A dashcam clip making its rounds on social media today captures the horrific moment a pedestrian got knocked down by a taxi that ran a red light along Penang road.

Believed to have taken place earlier this afternoon, a 35-year-old woman was flung a distance while dashing across the road in the rain from the Dhoby Ghaut MRT station bus stop with her male companion. In the clip uploaded on the SG Road Sense Facebook page, it was clear that the traffic lights had been shining red for quite some time, and it’s even clearer that the cabby had beaten the red light.

The taxi halted to a stop after the accident, and the victim’s companion dropped whatever he was carrying to rush over to her — but not before appearing to punt the taxi.

The taxi passenger and a passerby rushed over to the victim not long after. According to the police, the woman was taken conscious to Raffles Hospital by a Singapore Civil Defence Force ambulance. The accident itself took place just before 12:26pm.
