A 39-year-old construction worker was convicted to a seven-month jail term with three strokes of the cane after being found guilty of molesting another man.
According to Channel NewsAsia, the incident happened on a bus where Govindaraj Manoharan first attempted to rub the thigh of the national serviceman after intentionally moving to seat next to the latter.
Even after being confronted, Govindaraj did not relent — instead proceeding to try and rub the groin of his victim and even went as far as trying to unzip his pants.
In sentencing, district judge Matthew Joseph referred to his actions as perversed and completely unacceptable.
He also stated the fact that the accused persisted in molesting the young man is disturbing.
