Uniqlo’s viral path to cover every Singaporean mall with their fantastically affordable garbs and delicately soft tees has come to an apex — yet another one of their stores is opening along Orchard Road, but this time, it’s their biggest one.
In a first for Southeast Asia, the massively popular Japanese brand will be opening their first Global Flagship Store right here in Orchard Central. Opening their doors in Autumn this year, it’ll span approximately 2,700 square meters across three levels in the mall, offering an extensive (and biggest) range of their latest lines for women, men, kids and babies.
Also, it’s right next door to another Uniqlo store at 313@Somerset and yet another one down the road at ION Orchard.
This also confirms the rumours that Orchard Central had indeed kicked out beloved local burger joint EWF out of their five-year-long stronghold just to make way for another Uniqlo store. Considering the dense saturation of Uniqlo around the country, it’s no wonder EWF were so pissed about getting the boot by their former landlords.
Anywho, Singapore will soon join the likes of New York, London and Tokyo as the list of cities with Uniqlo’s flagship stores. How the products and retail experience in the upcoming flagship store will ever differ from the dozens of outlets already found conveniently in heartland malls is unclear. But hey, they’ll be creating over 300 more jobs here so that’s good.
