Breaking: 11 ‘Anonymous’-linked arrests made in total

The Singapore Police Force (SPF) divulged in a statement today that the authorities have arrested 11 people in total linking to the ‘Anonymous’ rep.

As we’ve reported earlier, 35-year-old James Raj has been linked to the compromise of the Ang Mo Kio Town Council website, but SPF’s statement reveals the man now under arrest is also involved in the hacking incidents involving a Straits Times blog, the PAP Community Foundation website, as well as City Harvest Church co-founder Sun Ho’s official page.

Raj is also said to have been wanted by the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) for outstanding drug-related offences and was tracked down in Malaysia with the help of the Royal Malaysia Police (RMP) before he was arrested on Nov. 4.

SPF has confirmed that Raj was indeed charged with three counts of drug consumption, but on Nov. 5. The charges, if any, dropped today would be for any offence under Section 5 (1) of the Computer Misuse and Cybersecurity act, which carries up to SGD10,000 in fines and maximum three years in prison.

We also mentioned that another suspect has been arrested for vandalising public property with the word “Anonymous”. The SPF reveals a total of five vandals have been arrested — they were found to have been involved in spray-painting words in Prinsep Link, Tampines and Woodlands, all of which occurred in the first week of November.

The suspects aged between 21 and 26, are expected to hear their charges today.

Police have also established the identities of five further suspects related to the hacking of the PMO and Istana websites aged between 17 and 45, who are currently under investigation.
