A boob enhancement company has been ordered to remove its misleading ads that promise larger breast sizes and protection from breast cancer, among others.
Also known as the Competition and Consumer Commission of Singapore stat board, or CCCS, the competition watchdog said today that the company Tokyo Bust Express has already started removing its deceiving advertisements from social media following complaints against them dating back to 2015.
“In the course of investigations, CCCS noted that [Tokyo Bust Express] made changes in its business practices to ensure compliance with the [Consumer Protection (Fair Trading) Act],” CCCS said in a statement today. Tokyo Bust Express has five outlets located in places including Paya Lebar Square and Serangoon Nex shopping malls.
“[Tokyo Bust Express] has taken steps to remove objectionable posts on its social media platforms and all claims in its marketing materials relating to the ability of its treatments to prevent or reduce bust related illnesses,” it added. Other lofty claims that the firm has made about itself include calling it “Singapore’s largest natural bust enhancement specialist.”
CCCS also warned the company against harassing and pressuring customers into buying products and services like bust contouring and lifting treatments, as well as its “Bust-Licious Tightening Gel” and firming mousse. A five-day cooling off period for customers who want to cancel transactions will also be implemented, it said.
Early complaints against Tokyo Bust Express were handed to the stat board in 2015 by the Consumers Association of Singapore, or CASE, after the company failed to clean up its act. CCCS said it will reopen investigations if Tokyo Bust Express resumes its unfair practices.
