If you’ve lived in the Singapore heartlands long enough, you’ll notice that all of our grassroots leaders across all districts have a peculiar predilection towards using the word ‘cum’.
It’s an almost insatiable appetite — it’s like every person who designs the banners and flyers for every community event is challenging him/herself to utilise the word ‘cum’, no matter how unnecessary it is.
Blogger Ng Yi Shu has taken issue with the word ‘cum’ getting constantly blasted in our eyes, and posted a hilarious open letter to grassroots leaders about their impervious usage in all sorts of event announcements, including this unfortunate one:
“It frankly leaves a bad taste in the mouth — and none of us certainly appreciate it,” Ng wrote in his open letter. Check out the rest of his blogpost here.
