We’ve watched the parliamentary drama and the changing of the prime ministers in the UK from afar but now we get to meet one of the main characters, ex-prime minister Boris Johnson, as he’s making his way to Singapore in December.
Unlike some of the other big acts and names coming to Singapore soon, this is not part of a world tour or a meet-and-greet, mind you. The former prime minister is set to be a keynote speaker at the International Symposium on Blockchain Advancements (ISBA) and will speak about the global ‘migration to the digital economy’.
The event will be held at InterContinental Singapore on Dec. 1 and 2.
The organisers of the event, blockchain technology company ParallelChain Lab, said in a release, “Mr Johnson is globally renowned for his passionate leadership on education, technology and infrastructure. His policies are designed to drive investment, creativity and allow innovation to flourish in the UK and around the world.”
Blockchain technology relies on a decentralized network to record transactions, with cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum being its most well-known applications.
ParallelChain Lab also said that ISBA aims to be a platform where there will be “challenging, thought-provoking and meaningful discussions” that “cut through the technology hype” of the digital economy. “ISBA is free from commercial, financial or political influence,” they added.
Another name on the list of guest speakers is former vice president of the United States, Dick Cheney.
