A man perfectly captured on film an explosive episode during Singapore’s gloomy rainy weekend.
Nikil Sreenivas’s eight-second clip posted yesterday captured a streak of lightning as it struck a floodlight at Bishan Stadium. It shows the sky flash in bright purple for milliseconds immediately after the lightning strikes at about 3pm on Saturday. Thunder could be heard roaring afterward.
“Posting a glimpse of yesterday’s fury at Bishan!” the caption read.
The National Environment Agency issued notices of heavy rain Saturday afternoon over many areas including the central region. The rainy weekend continued Sunday with flash flood warnings issued in places including Serangoon, Yio Chu Kang and Bedok North.
Other users like Paul Lee also captured pictures of lightning in Yishun and recorded a timelapse of the thunderstorm on Saturday.
