Bicycle shop resorts to wholesaling Coca Cola after 2,400 bottles were mistakenly sent to its warehouse

A bicycle shop found itself in a rather… cloying predicament when some miscommunication with Coke retailers landed it with 2,400 1.5 litre bottles of good ‘ol Coca Cola — instead of the 240 it initially ordered. Whoops!

With 3,600 litres of very sugary soda (about 91,200 teaspoons of sugar in total, by our estimates) that it can literally drown in, Scootz is really in a pickle. The mistaken delivery has just been sitting there in its warehouse at Woodlands, and sending the excess fcktonne of Coke back to Coca Cola Singapore would require renting a large truck, incurring even larger costs for the bike shop.

Solution? Wholesale time. The shop has taken to Facebook to recount the plight it’s in, and also to let folks know that they’re more than welcome to drop by the warehouse if they ever need some Coke. Minimum orders were initially set at 120 bottles, but since the post went viral, requests have gone way up, and Scootz will now sell ‘em off by the carton. Meaning it’s $15 per 12 bottles, which is a pretty good deal. Plus, you’d be helping a poor bike shop offload the mountain of classic Coca Cola that no amount of cycling or biking can sweat out.

Response has been great enough to leave about 1,700 bottles of Coke currently remaining in the warehouse. Plus, now is the time to get yourselves some super-sweet soda before soft drink makers reduce the amount of sugar in their beverages, in response to Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong’s diatribe against diabetes at last night’s National Day Rally.
