It’s been a hellish few days since Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 first disappeared off the radar on the morning of Mar. 8.
More than 40 hours later, not a single absolute sign of the Boeing 777-200 flight carrying a total of 239 people has been detected.
Search-and-rescue efforts have been reported to be investigating large oil slicks and debris off Vietnam, but nothing has been confirmed.
In the confusion and distress, a message the Beijing International Airport air traffic control has been sending to the missing flight crew has been going viral.

Coconuts Singapore is unable to confirm the legitimacy of the message, which has also been going around in text form via the #PrayForMH370 and #MH370 hashtags:
“MH370, this is air traffic controller hoping of seeing you, if you can hear us please maintain current altitude and fly direct to destination. We have got you approval for direct, other airlines will try to avoid your routing. We are happy to give you priority to land. Weather enroute is good and Beijing temperature is 5 deg Celcius, a little bit cold. When landed please wear your winter coat and remember to hug your loved one on arrival. They love you so much. Good day.”
