Battlestar Galactica will be replaced with new themed ride by end this year

Universal Studios Singapore is permanently closing roller-coaster ride Battlestar Galactica.

The popular ride, which has been closed since July 21 last year for a review, will be replaced by an undisclosed movie theme — including a new name, interiors and paint job — slated for completion by year end.

Comprising of the suspended ‘Human’ coaster and seated coaster ‘Cylon’, the 42.5m-high Battlestar Galactica is the world’s tallest duelling coaster — featuring several near collisions mere inches apart.

The roller-coaster ride was temporarily closed in March 2010, just a week after its soft opening, due to technical and safety issues.
