Remember the incident of The Wall in Yishun? Well, after more than two years of enduring constant harassment from an elderly neighbor, perhaps two households at Block 112 along Yishun Ring Road can now breathe a sigh of relief. The ‘Sunglasses Auntie’ — named for her habit of always wearing shades — has been arrested.

To backtrack a little — the 63-year-old woman had been dumping toilet paper, sanitary pads, oil, dark sauce and even urine on the doorsteps and corridor of her neighbors for over two years, the victims claimed. They installed surveillance cameras and lodged police reports, but nothing really worked. Even a makeshift fence of chairs, tables and planks couldn’t stop the harassment.

So the families finally decided to construct a wall built with metal, wood, and cacti (to replace to durian husks that were initially used).

Now, it’s emerged that the woman was arrested last Saturday for the offence of causing public nuisance. But neighbors that The Straits Times spoke to revealed that they heard her making loud banging noises in her flat on Monday afternoon. And since the town council has asked the victims to remove the barrier (it was a fire hazard), what happens next remains to be seen.
