Even The Avengers can’t do anything about this one. After allegedly tricking 19 geeky toy collectors into parting with their money, a 45-year-old man was recently arrested for his suspected involvement in a series of cheating cases.
Reportedly, the man first laid the bait by putting up offers of Iron Man figurines (made by high-quality merchandise makers Hot Toys, so they’re extra pricey) online in early October. After the interested buyers transferred deposits to the suspect’s bank account, the goods weren’t delivered as promised. Requests for refunds simply bounced like bullets off an MK 46 armor, and the suspect went into stealth mode as he evaded all attempts for contact.
Multiple reports were lodged, and police investigations revealed that he had committed over 40 counts of cheating involving 19 victims.
If convicted, he’ll be facing up to 10 years in jail and a fine.
