The days where fights can break out because of staring incidents don’t seem to be over, even though it’s 2016 already. A 37-year-old man even died from his wounds after being stabbed in the neck following a confrontation at a coffeeshop in Hougang.
Lianhe Wanbao reports that the man — known as Ang — was found bloodied up with a wound in his neck, and was pronounced dead later on at Tan Tock Seng Hospital.
Apparently, Ang was said to have behaved in a pretty antagonistic manner at the coffee shop along Hougang Avenue 3 late Wednesday night. An assistant at the coffee shop speaking to Shin Min Daily News said that he was unhappy about the self-service policy, and had shouted at staff.
As he was leaving, he caught the eye of an off-duty coffee shop employee — a 50-year-old man known to his colleagues as Ah Beng. “What are you staring at?” Ang challenged Ah Beng.
Enraged, the latter grabbed something from the zi char stall and followed Ang out of the premises.
It was only later on that Ang was found with a wound on his neck on Thursday morning at a block nearby. Police arrested Ah Beng at his flat along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 1 later on. A knife was found after the cops conducted a massive search in the area.
More details to follow after police investigations.
