You can’t just violently demand sex from a stranger on the MRT and not expect to be screwed in other ways. The drunk old man caught on video accosting a young American expat on the train has since been nabbed by the cops.

The police confirmed on Saturday that a 70-year-old man was arrested for allegedly harassing, slapping and generally being a nuisance towards Joe DeMarini, the victim who uploaded the footage. The exceedingly viral video is a pretty disturbing one, with the old man — who claimed to be gay — insisting that DeMarini was gay as well (he’s not), and aggressively demanding that they have sex. At one point, the elderly man even slapped the American, and the situation would have escalated even further if not for the intervention of fellow commuters.

A report was lodged by DeMarini about the incident, and the 70-year-old was apprehended along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 1 on that very same day. He was arrested for the offences of causing public nuisance and voluntarily causing hurt — crimes of which could land him up to $6,000 in fines as well as two years in jail if he’s convicted for both.

Speaking to Yahoo Singapore, DeMarini thanked Singaporeans for their overwhelming support and encouraging messages. He explained that he lodged a report against the man so that others wouldn’t have to experience what he went through.

“I’m not going to let it change my views of the people of Singapore,” he said, as quoted by Yahoo Singapore. “I’m very positive about Singapore.”
