Arrested: 2 teens who allegedly misused boarding passes in Changi Airport just to meet a K-pop star

Ah, the things teenagers do to meet their idols. Two star-struck youths who really wanted to meet a K-pop artiste in the flesh got on the wrong side of the law when they were arrested on Sunday for allegedly misusing boarding passes.

According to police investigations, the two girls — aged 16 and 19 — bought air tickets with no intention to depart from Singapore. Their alleged intention was to meet South Korean hip hop heart-throb Simon Dominic, TODAY reports. Dominic and his crew (comprising of other K-pop artistes Jay Park, Grab, Loco and DJ Pumkin) played a concert at the Suntec Convention Hall on Monday.

“The Police would like to remind all passengers that the transit areas of Changi Airport are gazetted as Protected Places and passengers who enter the transit areas with a boarding pass should only be there for the purpose of travelling to their next destinations,” the Singapore Police Force wrote in a Facebook post. A total of 36 people have been arrested for the misuse of boarding passes since January 2017, they revealed.

If convicted, the teens could be fined $1,000 and/or jailed for up to two years. Definitely not worth it for a selfie or two with a celebrity.
