You really don’t get to cycle run far in Singapore do you? According to various reports, a 13-year-old kid has been arrested for allegedly throwing a poor ofo bike off the 30th storey of a HDB block in Jalan Tenteram — on the very same day a video of the incident surfaced online, no less.

At least from what we know, thankfully no one has been hurt by this foolish act. Police have classified the incident to be a case of rash act.

The China-based bike-sharing platform noted in a press release that they are deeply saddened by the incident and are working closely with the authorities regarding the matter, but made no mention of any changes to their bike-sharing system despite the evidence of frequent abuse to their bikes on social media.

“We love Singapore and will continue to provide better service to the residents here,” they wrote. “We do and will continue to love the avid biking community here, as we continue to stay committed to giving everyone a simple, accessible, and budget-friendly bike travel experience.”

Thankfully, it seems like they’re not pulling out anytime soon and Singaporeans will still get to enjoy the highly popular bike-sharing concept. While ofo continues to assert that misuse is rare, can we really still have nice things with considering the regular reports of bike abuse?

Should the teen be convicted, he faces up to six months’ jail, a fine of up to $2,500 or both. Considering that the suspect is a minor, the judge might take the facts and circumstances of this case into consideration during sentencing.
