If you’re already racking up your monthly bills with app downloads and in-app purchases, get ready to fork out a lot more cash soon.
Apple is hiking up app prices in several countries following fluctuations in exchange rates, and unfortunately Singapore’s part of the list. First reported on The Next Web, prices for apps and in-app purchases will increase within the next 72 hours for users in Canada, Israel, Mexico, New Zealand, Russia, South Africa and Singapore.
The cheapest paid app will soon cost $1.48 instead of the current $1.28.
For in-app subscribers in Singapore in particular, Apple will email you personally about the changes in prices. Auto-renewal of subscriptions won’t be interrupted, but you’ll be provided with an option to turn them off if you want to.
This should not come to a surprise though; Apple has regularly jacked up app prices in the past when large fluctuations in currencies don’t level out over time. You’ll just have to think twice before buying those extra lives in Candy Crush Saga now.
