For its third outlet in Singapore, Apple is floating an unprecedented idea.

The tech behemoth is pushing boundaries with newly confirmed plans that the sphere parked in Marina Bay Sands will open as its first store at sea.

“We will soon open the doors to our new store by the Bay. Apple Marina Bay Sands will be at the heart of creativity, a place we’ve made for you to capture your ideas and passions,” the company announced

California-based Apple’s first aquatic store in the world will be its third in Singapore after previous outlets opened at Jewel Changi Airport in 2019 and Orchard Road in 2017.

It’s been something of an open secret since late last year that the sphere, constructed on the same site as the former Avalon nightclub, would be Apple’s third outlet.

The colorful skin wrapping the structure is modeled after the iridescent waters of Marina Bay. No opening date was specified.

Apple operates more than 500 stores — over half in the United States alone — across 25 countries. Last week it saw its value hit US$2 trillion.
