Apparently, CHC pastor Kong Hee gets police escorts arranged for him when he speaks in Jakarta

Oh what’d we do to get police escorts as well when travelling in the painfully congested roads of Jakarta. After all, the Indonesian capital is known as the worst city in the world for traffic jams, according to last year’s Castrol-Magnatec Stop-Start Index.

Jakarta jams, however, are no issue for convicted City Harvest Church founder Kong Hee. In a recent Facebook post, he uploaded footage of his travels in Cipinang, Jakarta, where the pastor would get police escorts paving the way for him on the way to speaking engagements at church services. Of course, it was due to the organisers pulling some strings for him.

According to a report on The Jakarta Post, anyone can apply for a police escort, but it will be the cops who’ll decide if they should fulfil the request after evaluations — they’re not really exclusive to state officials and emergency vehicles. Here’s how you can try (emphasis on ‘try’) to get yourselves the same VVIP treatment the next time you’re in Jakarta.

It’s been more than a year since the charismatic church founder as well as five other City Harvest leaders got convicted for misappropriating $50 million of church funds — but it seems that it’s life as usual for Kong. The last time he appeared in court, his lawyers were still appealing against his jail sentence, of which he was supposed to serve eight years in prison.
