President of Transitioning.org Gilbert Goh, who organised three Population White Paper protests last year with the last one a bit of a disappointment due to its turnout, has called for a mass protest at Hong Lim Park on Saturday, Jan. 25 against the recent announcement of the transport fare hike.
Happening from 5 — 8pm, the event won’t be hosted on on stage to encourage protestors to feel more personally involved in the proceedings.
Four speakers — Singapore for Singaporeans icon Daryl Tan, Kwan Yue Keng, Osman Sulaiman and Soong See Choo — have been confirmed, but Goh is still hoping more ‘ordinary’ Singaporeans will step up to join the list.
Goh is also looking forward to acknowledging those who are walking or cycling to the event in protest to the fare hike, and promises a surprise for anyone in attendance.
