Since the release of a video depicting a young cyclist in a very heated argument with a husband-and-wife duo after hitting their car, the police have launched an investigation into their altercation along Pasir Ris Drive 3.
According to The Straits Times, the police have classified the incident as a case of voluntarily causing hurt. The clip recorded by the 15-year-old cyclist had gone viral on Facebook, containing footage of the couple tussling with the boy for filming them with his phone.
The couple have in turn uploaded footage of their own and shared their side of the story on Saturday. Sharing the recording caught on their car’s dashcam, they asserted that the cyclist had indeed crashed into their car, with only himself to blame.
According to the cyclist’s initial account, the woman had jammed the brakes, causing him to hit the back of her Audi car with his hands. Based on the car’s dashcam clip, it appears to be that the cyclist may have bumped more than just his hands on the car. The couple added that the teen was not “apologetic to start with” and attempted to “clean off the damages” to the car before they could take pictures for evidence.
“Yes, we might have overreacted in a certain manner but it was the actions and unremorseful attitude of this arrogant individual that provoked us continuously,” wrote a Mr. Foo.
Nonetheless, the police are already getting involved in the incident, and it’ll be up to them to decide who’s in the wrong.
