Yep, you heard right. Amazon could, quite possibly, launch in Singapore this very week. The new development comes after months of speculation, and if true, it would mark the debut of the e-commerce giant in Southeast Asia.
According to tech site TechCrunch, sources in-the-know of Amazon’s plans reportedly claimed that the company’s arrival on our shores could happen as soon as this week. Prices have not been released, but you can most likely expect Amazon Prime, Amazon Prime Now fast delivery and Amazon’s standard e-commerce platform to be available in Singapore.
The company itself hasn’t confirmed anything, although several Instagram influencers have recently put up sponsored posts of what looks like Amazon’s Prime Now service with the hashtag #dontsaybojio (which means ‘don’t say you weren’t invited’). They don’t exactly scream ‘Amazon is officially here’, but the distinctive tick logo on packages in the photos sure looks familiar.
Amazon Prime Now, if you haven’t heard, is a subscription service that lets customers purchase items like electronics and household goods online and delivers them quickly in two hours.
Exciting times, indeed. Though we’re a bit disappointed that Amazon’s using social media influencers to market its services — come on guys, you’re better than this.
