While fans, friends, and family of the late actor Aloysius Pang mourned his passing over the weekend, a local film studio announced that it would be re-releasing his movie in cinemas across the country in his memory.

And don’t worry, the profits made from the screenings of Young & Fabulous would be passed on to the 28-year-old’s family (after deducting costs borne by third parties).

“I wanted to do something for him, and with his family’s blessing’s, we’ve decided to re-release Young & Fabulous on the big screens for Singaporeans who wished to pay tribute to his great work,” said the film’s producer and director Joyce Lee. Yesterday, the Encore Films founder also gave a eulogy during a public memorial service for Pang, recounting how he was a sensible individual who had dreams of being a director and was always a filial son to his parents.

The 2016 coming-of-age comedy-drama had Pang in the lead role and was considered to be a “key milestone” in his career, according to the founder of the talent agency, NoonTalk Media, that managed the actor.

“This initiative is in line with our plans for Aloysius, I hope we can all focus on his past work,” said Dasmond Koh, adding that he hopes more people can now enjoy the movie.

Six theatres involving cinema chains Golden Village, Cathay Cineplexes, Shaw Theatres and WE Cinemas (which are all sponsoring their venues) will start screening Young & Fabulous from tomorrow onwards.

Buried at sea

Earlier today, the young actor’s remains have been scattered at sea near Pulau Ubin. “It’s so you — the easy-going boy, as always,” wrote NoonTalk Media on social media about Pang, conveying his parent’s message that he has been “liberated”.

Pang was cremated yesterday after a weekend of mourning that saw hundreds of Singaporeans queuing up to pay respects at a public memorial service in MacPherson. Celebrities were also spotted at the wake paying their last respects, including actors Rayson Tan, Chen Shucheng, Zoe Tay and Fann Wong, according to 8 Days.

He received the full honors of a military send-off at Mandai Crematorium, where about 300 Singapore Armed Forces servicemen saluted the fallen soldier.

Pang’s death has raised questions about safety protocols in the Singapore military after his death marks the eighth military personnel to have passed away in 16 months while in service.

On Jan 23, the actor succumbed to the serious injuries he sustained while servicing a mobile howitzer in New Zealand, where he had been part of an overseas military exercise with other reservist national servicemen.
