Don’t be surprised if you see the staff of Alexandra Hospital just up and leave this evening — the historic hospital will be ceasing all operations from 5.30pm today to make way for maintenance and renovation works.
Doctors, nurses and patients alike will be transferring to the new Ng Teng Fong General Hospital near Jurong East MRT Station, which holds its official opening tomorrow.
The revamp of Alexandra Hospital is scheduled to be completed by the third quarter of 2015. It will re-open for business in phases during the same period.
