Airbus and SIA opening Singapore training centre for pilots this year

Singapore Airlines (SIA) and Airbus will jointly open a training centre for pilots in Singapore.

The Airbus Asia Training Centre (AATC), 55% Airbus owned and 45% SIA owned, is scheduled to commence operations by year-end.

An initial investment of $80 million will be made by the two partners to set up AATC, equipped with flight simulators for Airbus aircraft like the A380 super jumbo and newly-launched A350.

The AATC will temporarily operate from SIA Training Centre in Changi before moving to its permanent facility in Seletar Aerospace Park once it is completed.

Airbus has other training centres in Beijing, Miami and Toulouse.
