Paris-based airline AIr France will be extending its daily Paris-Singapore flight service to Jakarta from March 2014.
The decision was made following the replacement of their Airbus 380 with the Boeing 777 aircraft, cutting the capacity of the Paris-Singapore sector by 200 seats.
Both Air France KLM commercial director Matthieu Tetaud, as well as the Singapore Changi Airport spokesman Robin Goh, agree that the award-winning airport is ideal for connections, with Goh describing it as “the preferred transit hub for European carriers to serve destinations in the region”.
Tetaud also admits that Singapore Airlines is a model airline service to follow and is determined to bring Air France’s service and products to a level that matches it.
If demand for the one-stop service from Paris to Jakarta is strong, Air France will consider adding a second daily flight. The airline is also expected to operate to 23 Asian destinations by the second half of 2014.
