ACRA warns companies not to share details with mysterious unauthorised entity

The Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA) issued a public alert on Nov. 18 warning of an unknown entity by the name of “Singapore Company Register” requesting companies to verify details with it. Companies who fail to do so were informed their details would be deleted from the Singaporean Company Register database with only a week’s notice.

According to a spokesperson for ACRA, several companies have already fallen into the trap, calling the authority to report they’d already done as falsely instructed.

ACRA states it has nothing to do with the entity, and investigations are currently ongoing.

Companies who are required to update their records should only do so through ACRA’s online filing and information retrieval system at BizFile.
