Seletar Expressway was a scene of pandemonium yesterday when an SBS Transit double-decker bus collided with a trailer and a tipper truck, leaving four in hospital.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) was alerted to the accident at 10.17am, and two fire engines, two fire bikes, two ambulances and three support vehicles were deployed to the scene. By the time that they arrived, 30 people had already evacuated themselves from the bus, TODAY reports.
Rescuers had to use hydraulic rescue tools to extricate the drivers of the bus and the trailer who were trapped in their vehicles. The 29-year-old bus driver Kelvin Tan reportedly suffered four fractures in his right leg and one in his left ankle. Both Tan and the other rescued driver were conscious when they were conveyed to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital.
The two other accident victims sent to hospital were bus passengers, and have since been treated for minor injuries and discharged.
SBS Transit are currently assisting the police in their investigations.
