A new Tampines block seems to have spooked residents with its intense red interior recently.

The walls and floors are covered in red at Block 640B Tampines Street 62, a block in the upcoming Tampines GreenVines neighborhood.

It was just “unacceptable,” said TikTok user Zelia2702 who posted a clip yesterday highlighting the fierce redness of the block.

Red isn’t typically a color used in public housing blocks, which are mostly covered in dull inconspicuous paint tones.

This particular block, on the other hand, looks like a scene straight out of a sci-fi/horror movie, especially when the lights are turned on at night.

The red tiles on the floors and walls also bled through to the mailbox area.

Comments made fun of the bizarre color choice, with one saying it’s the “new red light district” and that they should rename the neighborhood to Tampines RedVines instead.

Some felt the interior was creepy while others thought it was “a vibe.”

“Going home late at night is so damn spooky,” User8431493451146 wrote.

“[L]owkey aesthetic but if got ghost not aesthetic alr,” Stfuzu wrote.

Baey Yam Keng, the government rep for the Tampines neighborhood, replied in the comments saying that he agrees with the residents’ concerns and has brought it up to the Housing and Development Board which is looking into it.

“A few residents have raised this with me. I do agree that the color scheme doesn’t look appropriate with the lighting at night,” Baey wrote.

According to Chinese publication Lianhe Zaobao, the ceiling just outside the elevator on the fifth floor has been repainted white.
