98 arrested in major drug bust including youth group of cannabis abusers and traffickers

In an island-wide operation on Aug. 18 – 22, nine suspected drug traffickers and 89 suspected drug abusers were arrested. mixture of drugs were seized.

A mixture of drugs — approximately 56g of cannabis, 72g of heroin, 19g of ‘Ice’, and five ‘Ecstacy’ tablets — were confiscated from the entire operation.

Among the many arrests made throughout the operation, the police apprehended a group of seven youths consisting of cannabis abusers and traffickers. All of the arrested were Singaporeans, age ranging from 19 to 26.

Investigations on all seven suspects are ongoing.

In a media statement, CNB reminds the public that cannabis is a Class A controlled drug listed in the Misuse of Drugs Act.

“Long-term abuse of cannabis can cause respiratory problems, affect one’s mental development and may even lead to death.”
