A joint operation held in Geylang early on Friday (Feb. 6) turned up 87 arrests, most of which were for vice-related activities.
Led by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), the Singapore Police Force (SPF) and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) carried out both targeted raids and proactive checks at various locations including coffee shops, shophouses and back alleys in the neighbourhood.
The 78 women arrested for vice were aged between 17 and 52.
Road blocks set up in Geylang also led to the arrest of nine motorists — all men aged between 25 and 57 — who’d failed the breathalyser test. The highest test result was 56mg of alcohol per 100 ml of breath, significantly more than the prescribed legal limit of 35mg.
All investigations are ongoing.
