86 drug offenders arrested in first island-wide operation of 2014

The Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB), with help from the Singapore Police Force (SPF), arrested 86 drug offenders in the first island-wide operation of 2014 from Jan. 7 to Jan. 10.

The three-day operation was conducted at neighbourhoods such as Ang Mo Kio, Beach Road, Bendemeer, Boon Lay, Bukit Batok, Choa Chu Kang, Clementi, Hougang, Jurong, Kallang, Tampines, Toa Payoh and Woodlands, during which the CNB seized more than $39,000 worth of drugs — 12g of cannabis, 304g of heroin, 32g of ‘ice’ and small amounts of erimin-5, ‘ecstasy’ tablets and ketamine.

In an operation on Jan. 8, a 48-year-old male was arrested at a unit at Hougang Avenue 8 by a team of CNB officers. The officers confiscated 52g of heroin costing more than $5,000 and $2,650 in cash believed to be illicit earnings from the sale of drugs from the unit.

Investigations on all the arrested persons are ongoing.
