81 arrested, $314k worth of drugs seized in 3-day CNB operation

A three-day island-wide operation executed by the Central Narcotics Burea (CNB) this week nabbed 26 suspected drug traffickers and 55 suspected drug abusers, as well as a huge haul of narcotics.

In Woodlands itself, CNB officers seized a total of 1,571g of heroin and 38g of meth, estimated to be worth $116,000 in all. Monday night saw the arrest of a suspected drug trafficker (a 42-year-old female Singaporean) and a suspected drug courier (a 36-year-old male Malaysian) in the vicinity of Woodlands Crescent.

A follow-up raid was also conducted in the hideout of the suspected trafficker, where officers nabbed a 64-year-old male Singaporean associate and a 47-year-old female Singaporean suspected abuser. More meth, Erimin-5 tablets, heroin and various drug paraphernalia were found as well.

Over in Jurong West, CNB busted a drug ring and seized about 926g of heroin and 438g of meth, estimated to be worth about $143,000. On Tuesday night, CNB officers tailed a Singapore-registered black car throughout the district, and monitored a Malaysia-registered lorry that had met up with the car. After a meeting held between the occupants of the two vehicles, they split up across Jurong.

Throughout the tailing of the black car, CNB officers arrested four people — including the driver of the car — all of whom were suspected drug traffickers and confiscated drugs and drug money off them. The Malaysian drug couriers in the lorry were nabbed near Tuas Checkpoint.

Investigations are ongoing on all 81 people apprehended during the operation.
