Beneath the (presumably) attractive looks of this Japanese air stewardess lies a kleptomaniac mind — and boy did she really succumb to her mental ailment.
27-year-old ANA airlines stewardess Satoko Otaka was arrested in August at a supermarket, where police found various items including a coin pouch, a Salvatore Ferragamo card holder, bottles of nail polish, boxes of berries, a litre of packaged soup, undergarments and an orange drink from Breadtalk. A pretty wholesome round of shoplifting we must say.
TODAY reports that Otaka was diagnosed with kletomania and was suffering from “major depressive disorder” when she committed the offences. The fact that she worked overnight on a flight from Japan to Singapore the previous day left her fatigued, exacerbating her condition.
Her half-hour shoplifting spree at the upscale Paragon shopping centre amounted to $2,400 worth of items — noted by her lawyers to be bulky items which were of no use to her.
She was let off with a $7,000 fine after pleading guilty to seven charges of theft.
