Cameras caught 73 people for high-rise littering this year

Surveillance cameras installed in 581 locations since 2012 have caught 73 people for high-rise littering as at Dec. 4.

According to Channel NewsAsia, the National Environment Agency (NEA) said the problem of high-rise littering has significantly dissolved in 81 percent of these locations, thanks to the move.

There are still people who litter though, and repeatedly, but the Public Hygiene Council believes it is a small minority and at least three percent is made up individuals with personality disorders.

Littering is an offence punishable with a fine of up to SGD4,800.
